Around 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, a La Palma police officer observed a male driver doing “donuts” in the City Hall parking lot. Officers attempted to stop the subject as he traveled northbound on Walker Street, but the subject refused to stop. Officers were involved in a brief traffic pursuit through several residential streets in La Palma, eventually ending up in the area of Bloomfield and 183rd Street in Cerritos, where officers lost sight of the suspect car.
Several minutes later, the La Palma Police Department received reports that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) was responding to a traffic accident at Valley View Street and Artesia Boulevard, where the driver of one of the vehicles fled on foot. La Palma officers responded to that location and found that the vehicle involved in the accident was the same car that was involved in the earlier pursuit. The suspect was located a few blocks north of the accident scene by LASD deputies and taken into custody. The La Palma Police Department ultimately took custody of the suspect who was transported to jail.
