In 2019, the Orange County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to change the County’s voting system so that you can cast your ballot faster, easier, and more secure. Beginning with the March 2020 election, precinct polling locations will be eliminated and replaced with more than 200 Vote Centers throughout Orange County, secure ballot drop-off box locations, and a flexible voting schedule.
Here’s how it will work: One month prior to each election, every registered voter will receive an information packet and vote-by-mail ballot in the mail (Staring on February 3, 2020 for the upcoming March 2020 election). The packet will include detailed information on the election, candidates, choices of where and how to vote, and more. Multiple benefits will be outlined so voters can plan when to cast their ballot to avoid lines and time restraints.
As a registered voter, you’ll have more options that match your busy schedule:
VISIT: Vote at ANY Vote Center location countywide beginning 10 days before Election Day. Open seven days a week, Vote Centers will feature electronic check-in and ballot system, disabled access voting, voter registration options, and personal customer service support and problem solving.
DROP: Drive through a ballot drop-off box location or drop your ballot at any countywide Vote Center.
MAIL: Return your ballot via the US Post Office – NO STAMP REQUIRED!
What does this mean for La Palma residents? One voting center will be located in La Palma at the Community Center and will open everyday starting on February 22 through Election Day. Additionally, a secure ballot drop-off box has been located outside City Hall and will be available 24/7 starting February 3 until 8pm on Election Day for residents to drop off their ballots.
