During the summer of 2018, the Electronic Message Center (EMC) at Central Park began experiencing display issues – overheating, automatic system restarts, and presentation freezes. After multiple visits from the service provider technicians, firmware upgrades, and various parts replacements, the EMC continued to experience operational issues. In March 2019, city staff issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to replace the 10-year old EMC. The typical EMC life-time is approximately 10 years, depending on the usage.
In May 2019, the City Council awarded a contract to Encore Image of Ontario, CA, to remove and replace the EMC. The new EMC is larger with a higher resolution. On July 3, the installation of the new EMC was completed just in time for the Fourth of July Fitness Run for Fun! The EMC is used to display the time/date/temperature, public safety notices, City events/news, and other public notices. Next time you’re in the park, come see the newest upgrade!
Looking to advertise your organization’s event or program on the Central Park Electronic Message Center? Stop by the Community Services office in Central Park to pick-up an E-Readerboard Request Form. All information requested to be put on the EMC must be approved by the Director of Community Services and should be submitted 10 days prior to “live” date request.
