On January 25, 2010, the La Palma City Council conducted its annual goal setting session. After a full day of discussions, the City Council adopted four priority goals for the year. The priority goals are:
Strive for financial stability in the future
- Provide a balanced budget
- Continue funding successful programs
- Continue developing the five-year financial forecasting model
- Develop a comprehensive infrastructure needs assessment
Revisit the Civic Center project
- Update the cost model
- Identify financing
- Establish a direction and a timeline, if appropriate
Develop/improve underutilized retail properties
- Priorities: Hannam Center, Ralphs Center, and Orangethorpe and Moody (corner strategy)
- Explore making aesthetic enhancement to key corner properties
Pursue joint use agreements with each School District
- Discuss future program/infrastructure needs with each School District
- Compare School District’s needs and the City’s needs in the Park Master plan and report to Council
- Develop a strategy for joint use
- Negotiate one or more agreements
