Traditionally, non-violent crimes with no solvability factors are filed away without any investigative follow-up. The Police Department has created a new policy of contacting every victim of every crime. The Victim Contact Team works with the Detective Bureau to make personal contact with crime victims to let them know the status of their case and obtain any new information the victim may have that could assist detectives.
Staffing
The Victim Contact Team is staffed by specially trained Reserve Police Detectives and VIP members working primarily on weekends when victims are most easily reached.
