Winter 2022 Home Spotlight
The City of La Palma would like to congratulate the Palma Family of 5171 Decatur Dr. for winning the 2022/32 Winter Home Spotlight Award!
Ken & Sue Palma and their daughters Jacquelyne and Megan were excited to be recognized for their home! Ken & Sue have been resident for the 29 years. “We have lived in La Palma for nearly 30 years, and our style has changed thru the years. We were trying to come up with ideas of how can our dogs enjoy the front yard without being on a leash. Our challenges were keeping all the animals safe and not feeling closed in with a heavy fence. Also, I have always wanted a porch to sit outside on cool fall evenings. Since we love DIY projects and thinking out of the box we went to work and collaborated on our design.” - Sue Palma

After they replaced the roof, they remodeled their front yard with matching grey cement pavers on their driveway, added a small patio, installed a synthetic grass lawn, and filled planters with colorful flowers.
Sharon and Glenn said that when they first were looking for a home, they wanted good schools for their two girls who were 9 and 12. They were happy to find that the La Palma schools Luther Elementary, Walker Jr. High School, and Kennedy High School, were highly rated schools. They said that they have enjoyed living in La Palma the past 30 years because of the wonderful neighbors they have had.

The City of La Palma would like to congratulate Christelle Watkins of 5552 Conifer Drive for winning the 2021 Spring Home Spotlight Award!
Christelle Watkins has lived in La Palma for 23 years. She selected to live in La Palma because it is a nice and quiet community. Recently, she worked with a landscape designer to transform her front and back yard. She wanted a contemporary design that requires little maintenance. They demolished everything, in order to start from scratch and increase the overall curb appeal. The design featured installing artificial turf, a variety of succulent plants, and accent walls for more depth, lighting and modern entry and garage doors, with a more modern color palette.
Christelle was very surprised and overjoyed to hear her home was recognized as the Spring Home Spotlight Award. Thank you. We have to find joy in anything we can, so I am very excited.
