Public Works Permits
Dumpster Permits
A Dumpster Permit is required before placing any large trash bin within the street or public right-of-way. Placing a dumpster in a residential drive or on private property does not require a permit. A Dumpster Permit can be downloaded here or obtained from the Community Services Department located in Central Park. Encroachment / Excavation Permits
An Encroachment/Excavation Permit is required when any person/contractor wishes to perform any type of work in the public right of way within the City of La Palma. Proof of liability insurance must be submitted at the time of permit application. A permit is required before any work begins and can be downloaded here or obtained from the Community Services Department located in Central Park. Fees vary based on the scope of the project. Sidewalk Vending Permits
A Sidewalk Vending Permit is a form of an encroachment permit needed whenever a vendor wishes to sell goods or services in the public right of way within the City of La Palma. A copy of a Health Permit and/or California Dept. of Tax and Fee Admin Seller's Permit is required at the time of application, in addition to other requirements including a City Business License. Oversize Load Permits
An Oversize Load Permit is required for any vehicle whose loaded height, weight, or length is larger than what is normally allowed on City streets. The City must approve the proposed route of travel and the mover must show proof of liability insurance. The original permit shall be carried in the vehicle to which it refers at all times while the vehicle is being moved within the city limits.
