The Police Dispatch Unit performs as the vital link in communication between citizens and emergency services for the City of La Palma, while the Records Unit tracks and provides copies of all police reports. 

Communications / 9-1-1

Dispatchers provide continuous telephone and radio dispatching while coordinating all Police, Fire, Rescue, and Medical responses within the City of La Palma. Police Dispatchers communicate with patrol officers and other emergency personnel by radio and computer-linked equipment.

The La Palma Police Center is the 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for the City. Police dispatchers use Computer Assisted Dispatching (CAD) software to process calls and track critical information.

Police Records/Reports
The Records Unit staff provide a myriad of services to department personnel, government agencies, and to the public. The staff is responsible for the storage and retrieval of all crime reports, warrants, traffic accident reports, vehicle reports, and statistical reports.

In order to ensure that your report will be available, we recommend that you wait 5-7 days from the date of the incident or the date you made the report before you contact us to confirm if the report is available. Depending on the complexity of the report, it takes on average 3 – 5 days for a report to be finalized by the officer; approved by a supervisor; and submitted to the Records unit. Depending on the type of report, requests for reports may be made in person, by U.S. mail or by telephone. All requests for information are processed in accordance with State of California data privacy laws and department policy.
