The Memorial Day Ceremony has become one of the most time-honored traditions in La Palma.  Having existed for over 30 years, the ceremony pays tribute to the dedication and sacrifices the men and women of our Nation’s Armed Forces have made.  Every Memorial Day, the City of La Palma honors their service in defense of our freedom and their sacrifice for Liberty throughout the world.

Essay, Poetry & Art Contest
All junior high and high school students either attending a La Palma school and/or living in La Palma are invited to submit an art, essay poem based on the theme.  All student entries will have their entry displayed during the City of La Palma's annual Memorial Day Ceremony.  The student with the winning essay or poem will be asked to read his/her piece at the Memorial Day Ceremony, further information can be found here in May. 

Letters to the Troops
In honor of Memorial Day, the City of La Palma's Community Activities and Beautification Committee is collecting letters for our troops by members of community.  Letters/cards may be as large as an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper.  Letters/cards  are due to the Community Services Department.
