Council Appointed Committees
The City of La Palma has three standing citizen committees appointed by the City Council:
Appointments and Vacancies
Committee members may be appointed for two four-year terms and appointments are made when a vacancy arises on a committee. The City Council reviews applications for committee vacancies and interviews applicants prior to making appointments.
The advertising of upcoming vacancies may occur prior to the actual expiration of a committee member’s term, in an effort to fill vacancies as close as possible to the expiration date. Applications for all citizen committees are available online at each committees respective webpage (links above) or at La Palma City Hall.
2015 Citizen Committee on La Palma’s Sustainability and Future
The City of La Palma is at a critical juncture in its 60 year history. After the Great Recession and loss of the City’s largest sales tax producer has reduced revenues, while pension and other costs have increased. In response, the City has been forced to make drastic cuts and unfortunately, these reductions are not nearly enough to achieve a balanced budget. Therefore, the City Council is establishing the Citizen Committee on La Palma’s Sustainability and Future to allow more input and opportunities for the public to discuss and provide possible solutions that are acceptable to the residents, and make La Palma sustainable for generations to come.
