Beginning in August 2008, customers in the 714 area code must always dial 1 + area code + seven-digit number when making any call.  This change in dialing was approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) as part of an overlay for the 714 are code to accommodate the need for more telephone numbers. The new 657 area code serves customers in the same geographic region as the current 714 area code, which is located primarily in Orange County, and is used by telephone customers in Anaheim, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Orange, Santa Ana, La Palma, and Yorba Linda and other cities.

Remember, all calls made within the the 714 or the new 657 area code must be completed by always dialing 1 + area code + seven-digit number.  For more information please contact your local phone service provider.
