Neighborhood Watch

La Palma Neighborhood Watch (NW) is a volunteer organization that meets monthly to receive training, crime trend updates, and general question sessions. Their meetings are generally held on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the City Hall Council Chambers. Neighborhood Watch volunteers deliver 5,000 copies of The Source to their respective reporting districts bi-monthly.

Working together, neighbors learn how to safeguard each other's homes and reduce the risk of crime. They become more alert to unusual or suspicious circumstances, individuals, or vehicles. They learn that it is better to call the police when they see something suspicious, even if their suspicion proves unfounded, rather than to keep quiet and risk letting a neighbor be victimized by criminals.

NW does not mean prying or nosy neighbors who try to stop criminals all by themselves. As a member, your responsibility is to call the police and report what you've seen, not to take action yourself.

Neighborhoods are made up of people who have the power to protect each other's safety. By reporting any suspicious circumstances to law enforcement agencies, members of an NW actually increase their own safety.

Police cannot fight crime they do not know about. When alert citizens keep them informed, the police are far more effective against crime and citizens have better protection and safer neighborhoods. Join NW to protect your home and stay safe.

Notify Me
The La Palma Police Department has a zone based Neighborhood Watch community notification system. Using the City's website Notify Me feature, residents can sign-up to receive timely Neighborhood Watch bulletins from the Police Department. These bulletins may contain general or specific crime information that is important to your local neighborhood. Typical messages would be about multiple criminal incidents (mail theft, burglary, etc.) that have occurred in a general area. Sign-up today.
