Information regarding a business license can be obtained by calling the Business License Division at (714) 690-3334.  A business license is required for all businesses and in-home businesses operating within the city limits, including temporary activities and contractors with offices located outside of the City.

How to Obtain a Fictitious Business Name and Resale Number

Most Business License applications also require completion of the combined Air Quality Management District (AQMD) and Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) form. Please contact the Business License Division for more information at (714) 690-3334.  New businesses within the City are encouraged to contact the Planning Division at (714) 690-3336 to further discuss the details of their use prior to submitting an application.

The City recently mailed 2008-09 business license renewals. Please note, that although your current license may indicate it expires July 31, 2008, the City does not access late penalties until after November 1, 2008. Additionally, your renewal notice may indicate that payment is due by August 1, 2008, however if proper application and payment is received by November 1, 2008 no late fees will be accessed. Therefore please complete your business license renewal promptly and return it to the City with your proof of gross receipts and proper payment amount by November 1, 2008 to avoid late charges.
